May 10--CARMEL MOUNTAIN RANCH ---- Palomar Pomerado Health's board of directors is accepting applications from physicians and nurses interested in filling a vacancy on an Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee that monitors the district's use of Proposition BB money.
The vacancy was created in March, when the Dr. Lee Human resigned his seat on the committee, citing conflicts between his schedule and the one the committee had set for its meetings. His replacement will finish Human's first two terms as a physician-nurse representative on the nine-member panel.
His initial term expires June 30; the second one runs through June 30, 2008.
Approved by voters in 2004, Prop. BB authorized the public health system to sell $496 million worth of bonds to help pay for a $1 billion expansion of the district's facilities. The committee is responsible for making sure the bond proceeds are spent the way voters were told they would be.
Four of the panel's members represent specific interest groups: businesses, senior citizens, taxpayers, and physicians and nurses. The committee's other members come from the community at large.
May 25 is the deadline for physicians and nurses interested in filling Human's seat to apply. Applications are available on the district's Web site. For information, log onto www.pph.org or call Tanya Howell at (858) 675-5140.
