Equipment &Amp; Systems Engineering Sells 18 Aquachlor Units for Use in Health Centers Across Haiti

Posted on: Tuesday, 16 May 2006, 09:05 CDT

Equipment and Systems Engineering, Inc. (OTC: EQSE), a leading manufacturer and global supplier of on-site sodium hypochlorite generation systems for water sanitation, today announced the sale of 18 Aquachlor AC-100 water sanitation systems to JHPIEGO, a nonprofit, non-governmental organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University.

The systems will be installed in hospitals and health centers across Haiti and will be utilized to disinfect medical instruments as well as for general sanitation throughout these facilities. ESQE will ship the systems this week.

Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. According to the Pan American Health Organization, only 28 percent of the population has access to modern sanitation facilities and no city has a functioning sewer system. Meanwhile, more than half of the country's eight million people do not have adequate access to suitable drinking water, according to the latest statistics of the United Nations. The Service National d'Eau Potable, Haiti's national water directorate, is working to address the potable water and sanitation facility shortages in the country's rural communities, and the new AC-100 systems are expected to aid substantially in these efforts.

"For nearly two decades, EQSE has facilitated access to safe drinking water and modern sanitation systems in developing countries around the world," said Jose T. Masis, EQSE's CEO and founder. "We have built relationships with numerous global health organizations that trust the Aquachlor brand to affordably deliver on this promise. Through their initiatives, we continue to fulfill our own mission of contributing to global health while creating value for our shareholders."

EQSE also reported this morning that the sale generated revenues of more than US$41,000.00 for EQSE, and the funds for the purchase were provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

EQSE Aquachlor systems are primarily used to sanitize drinking water in rural areas of developing nations, as well as in emergency situations, around the world. The company has installed Aquachlor units in 54 countries worldwide, providing several hundred million liters of safe drinking water across North, Central and South America, as well as Africa, Oceania and Asia each day.
