CareGuide/Patient Infosystems Announces 3-Year Contract Renewal With the State of Louisiana Office of Group Benefits

Posted on: Friday, 19 May 2006, 06:04 CDT

Patient Infosystems, Inc. (OTCBB: PATY) ("CareGuide/Patient Infosystems"), a health and care management company, today announced the renewal of its contract with the State of Louisiana Office of Group Benefits ("Louisiana OGB").

Since October 2003, CareGuide/Patient Infosystems has been providing utilization review and case management services for 60,000 State of Louisiana employees and their families. During this time, CareGuide/Patient Infosystems has achieved in excess of $25 Million dollars in savings for this group. This success can be attributed to CareGuide/Patient Infosystems' collaborative, proactive approach to medical management. A close working relationship with the Louisiana OGB staff over the past three years has allowed CareGuide/Patient Infosystems to provide the necessary support to ensure appropriate care of their members and effective communication and collaboration with contracted providers. The care management nurses have worked very closely with the Louisiana OGB providers to prevent inappropriate hospitalizations. When hospitalizations have been necessary, the nurses have assisted with discharge planning to ensure a safe return to their prior level of function, or to an alternatively appropriate level of care, continuously working to optimize the members' benefits while ensuring appropriate, cost-effective care.

With the success of these programs, the Louisiana OGB has renewed its contract with CareGuide/Patient Infosystems for an additional 3 years. Chris Paterson, CareGuide/Patient Infosystems' CEO stated, "Working together, CareGuide/Patient Infosystems and Louisiana OGB have saved significant healthcare dollars for the State. We are pleased with the opportunity to continue working with the Louisiana OGB in their efforts to control healthcare cost trend while maintaining and enhancing employee satisfaction with benefits."

The renewal of this contract was mentioned, without specific identification, in the press release issued by the Company on May 10, 2006.
