IU Medical Group - Primary Care using One Care Street predictive modeling to help high-risk employees better manage their health and reduce health care premiums
The Haelan(R) Group, the premier provider of predictive modeling and health coaching for health plans and employers, announced today that Indiana-based IU Medical Group - Primary Care will use its One Care Street(TM) predictive modeling and health coaching system to improve the health of its 620 employees.
Providing primary care to more than 100,000 patients in Central Indiana, IU Medical Group - Primary Care considered many health management options to support and encourage employees towards healthy behavior. "We found the One Care Street system from The Haelan Group to be a proven way to find those employees most in need of help. Additionally, the system can deliver the tools and one-on-one coaching to improve their health behavior and enhance their ability to make wise health care choices," said Dr. John Fitzgerald, CEO of IU Medical Group - Primary Care.
Starting in May, 2006, employees will fill out health perception surveys that identify which of them need immediate, proactive help through a health coach or those that are at low-risk and simply need supportive health options. To encourage speedy return of surveys, IU Medical Group - Primary Care is offering "rewards" to employees that fill out surveys on or before the due date. Health coaching and support will be emphasized in the areas of chronic condition and physical symptom management, stress, weight management, smoking cessation and overall healthy eating habits.
The Haelan Group provides employers and benefit management companies across the country with the One Care Street system, a predictive modeling/health coaching solution that helps find high- and low-risk employees requiring health information and one-on-one health coaching to improve health and avoid high-cost medical care.
"As medical providers themselves, IU Medical Group - Primary Care clearly understands the need to help people manage health issues early on, before they blossom into full-blown, expensive problems," said Julie A. Meek, president and founder of The Haelan Group. "They really have their employees' best interests in heart and want to activate employees to be part of the health care solution."
Predictive Modeling
Unlike current health management programs, the One Care Street predictive modeling tool helps employers find and proactively help high-risk individuals (those that need immediate healthcare intervention) using self-reported survey data rather than claims information, and one-on-one intervention through health coaches. The One Care Street system can find and help the 10-15 percent of an employee/spouse population that accounts for 70 to 80 percent of short-term healthcare costs.
About IU Medical Group
Established in 1986, IU Medical Group - Primary Care is a not-for-profit provider jointly owned by the Indiana University School of Medicine and Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County. The medical group provides care to more than 100,000 patients in Central Indiana.
About The Haelan(R) Group
Founded in 1995, The Haelan Group is the only provider of a survey-based, predictive modeling and health coaching system, One Care Street(TM), that finds and helps high-risk employees and members who represent the largest percent of near-term healthcare costs. Posted by Earl Mitchell on 10/23/2008, 16:28 I would like to know why ever since Dr. Maddox has been my doctor my appointments have been at least 45 minutes late. In the past every other doctor I've had was real close to my appointment time. Today, after one hour I left due to another appointment. Please get back with me for I am in the process of finding another Dr. for my family and myself. Thany you. For I U should not be forced to wear a bad mark just because of one inconciderate employee.
