First Consulting Group (FCG) to Implement and Operate Advanced Clinical Information System for Beth Israel Medical Center; FCG Wins the Third Implementation of PRISM System With Continuum Health Partners

Posted on: Thursday, 25 May 2006, 09:01 CDT

First Consulting Group (FCG) (NASDAQ: FCGI) today announced a multi-million dollar, four-year implementation and operation engagement with Continuum Health Partners' Beth Israel Medical Center in New York which will commence on August 1, 2006.

Under the engagement, FCG will implement and operate Continuum Health Partners' integrated advanced clinical system (PRISM: Patient Real-time Information Systems Management) at Beth Israel Medical Center. Continuum is implementing PRISM at two other hospitals, Long Island College Hospital, where the system has already been implemented, and St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital Center, where PRISM is expected to go live this month.

At Beth Israel Medical Center, FCG will implement GE Healthcare's IDX CareCast(TM). GE Healthcare's IDX CareCast(TM) is a fully-integrated clinical, financial and administrative system that automates workflow throughout the healthcare enterprise and enables rapid access to patient records across the care continuum.

"FCG was selected to work with Beth Israel Medical Center based on the company's familiarity with our organization and its proven ability to operate the majority of our applications," said Marc Milstein, Corporate Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Continuum Health Partners. "FCG's discipline, strong program management and proven track record in working with our hospitals should help Beth Israel Medical Center increase clinical productivity and lower costs over time."

As part of the engagement, FCG will provide staffing and program management services, and host and support the application from Continuum Health Partner's data center in Secaucus, New Jersey.

"We are excited to expand our relationship with Continuum Health Partners," said Steve Heck, President and interim CEO, FCG. "Continuum Health Partners selected FCG as its outsourcing partner because of our full portfolio of services specifically designed for hospitals and our experience in implementing more EHR's than any other third party in the industry. Both FCG and Continuum Health Partners will benefit from the fact that the people implementing the system will also support it in the future."

"The electronic medical environment we have created at Continuum Health Partners is helping us transform data into knowledge that is facilitating critical quality improvement efforts and best practices across our entire network," said Tom Karson, M.D., Chief Medical Information Officer, Continuum Health Partners. "The implementation and use of PRISM represents a major step forward in our organization's goals of providing the highest quality care to our patients."

In July 2005, FCG signed a long term information technology outsourcing agreement with Continuum Health Partners for services related to infrastructure, data center, clinical and financial applications, help desk, desktop, and overall project management. This new engagement represents additional work under the outsourcing agreement and the services will run concurrently with the term of the existing outsourcing contract.
