$100,000 Grant for Research Fulfills Cancer Charity’s Wish

May 22–The rift between Stop! Children’s Cancer of Palm Beach County and Palm Healthcare Foundation is settled.

Palm Healthcare last week said a grant of more than $100,000 will be made to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s Medical Center for pediatric cancer research.

That’s all Stop! Children’s Cancer apparently ever wanted. Back in 1999, the cancer charity gave Intracoastal Health Foundation money to finance such a program at St. Mary’s in West Palm Beach.

But ownership changes at the hospital led to changes in Intracoastal, which became Palm Healthcare.

During the past couple of years, officials at Stop! Children’s Cancer became frustrated their money was not being put to use for cancer research.

So, the charity sued Palm Healthcare to force the issue.

It worked.
