American Academy of Family Physicians Selects Avectra's netFORUM

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 June 2006, 12:01 CDT

Avectra Inc., the leading provider of 100 percent Web-based association management software solutions, announced today the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has chosen Avectra's netFORUM to enhance member communications, support membership and revenue goals and improve internal operations.

AAFP is one of the largest national medical organizations, with more than 94,000 members in 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. Founded in 1947, AAFP is dedicated to improving the health of patients, families, and communities. To achieve these goals, the AAFP conducts policy advocacy at the local and national level; offers practice enhancement to ensure the financial success of their members; and supports lifelong education initiatives for physicians, residents, and medical students.

AAFP initiated a search for a new association management software (AMS) system in early 2005. After conducting a review of the market, they narrowed their selection to Avectra and one other vendor. AAFP had several key requirements including:

-- A true, thin-client, Web-based application

-- Proven institutional knowledge and domain expertise

-- A flexible technology environment and toolkit for extending the application

-- A financially strong company with an ability to commit to a large task and an aggressive set of deliverables

After an extensive RFP process, detailed demonstrations, and a thorough technical review, Avectra netFORUM was chosen.

"We concluded Avectra had the best solution to fit our needs--today and in the future," said Gordon Schmittling, director, division of research and information services at the AAFP. "Avectra's deep experience, technology and resources put them above anyone else in the AMS industry."

AAFP has contracted with Avectra to conduct a System Requirements Analysis (SRA) beginning in early June, and scheduled for completion by the end of August. Following the completion of the SRA, four technical teams from Avectra will begin working in concert with developers from AAFP. Development is scheduled for completion by the fall of 2007, with an anticipated "Go-Live" in the spring of 2008.

"The AAFP is one of the most respected organizations in the association industry. We are honored they selected Avectra and netFORUM, and we share their vision of improving the health of patients, families, and communities," said Pete Kauffman, chief operations officer of Avectra. "We look forward to helping them achieve these noble goals through more effective membership management."
