MEDSEEK to Build Kingman Regional Medical Center's Physician Portal, Providing Access to Clinical Data in One Unified View

Posted on: Wednesday, 5 July 2006, 09:00 CDT

MEDSEEK, a leading provider of enterprise e-health solutions, with 500-plus hospital clients around the country, announced today that it will develop a physician portal for the 213-bed Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) in Kingman, Arizona. The physician portal pilot go-live is planned for June 26th, with full roll-out scheduled for mid-September.

Utilizing MEDSEEK's eConnect integration engine, KRMC's physicians will gain access to clinical data from disparate systems through one unified view, as well as be able to review patients' records, lab results, EKG studies, cardiology images, PACS imaging, transcriptions and progress reports. They also will be able to view the scanned medical record. MEDSEEK will integrate disparate systems, including Siemens-MedSeries 4 for Admissions/Discharge/Transfer, with ancillary applications including Cerner Lab, GE Marquette MUSE EKG, GE PACS, Document Imaging from Chartmaxx, Drager Telemetry for bedside monitors, Philips Tracevue Fetal Monitoring, and WITT Cardiopath.

"We selected MEDSEEK to develop our physician portal because their eConnect clinical connectivity links underlying systems and provides intuitive views of clinical information from systems already familiar to the clinician," explains Shawn Burgess, Director/CIO at Kingman Regional Medical Center. "With many other vendors, physicians and clinicians are forced to accept 'the vendor' view of data. With a MEDSEEK physician portal, physicians can see patient data in any format they desire. We look forward to working with MEDSEEK to develop our virtual EMR."

According to Mike Drake, CEO of MEDSEEK, "KRMC and other hospitals across the country are increasingly recognizing the benefits of physician portals to get instant access to information for better decision-making, and improved communications that help to manage patient expectations and compliance. MEDSEEK's PortalMaker E offers web-based portal solutions that enable healthcare organizations, large or small, to securely present relevant information to clinicians at the point of care, either stationary or through mobile access."

MEDSEEK's PortalMaker E empowered with eConnect enables authorized users to gain instant access to disparate patient data throughout the healthcare continuum. The resulting physician portal offers clinicians single sign-on/single patient search from any computer with secure Internet access. It also has the ability to provide wireless/mobile access and support for multiple technologies.
