Coordinated Health Deploying State-of-the-Art Digital Healthcare Services Based on TelCove Network and Communication Services

PITTSBURGH, July 5 /PRNewswire/ -- TelCove, a leading provider of business critical telecommunications services to enterprise customers, carriers, and government organizations today announced a five-year communications services agreement with Coordinated Health to provide multiple telecommunication services for their Bethlehem headquarters and five other eastern Pennsylvania Coordinated Health locations.
Services that TelCove will provide to Coordinated Health include high- speed Ethernet data transport, Internet Access over Ethernet, plus business voice services. All services will be installed and operational within two months.
Coordinated Health, supporting Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas since 1987, provides rehabilitation, orthopedics, and sports medicine services and specializes in back and neck, hand and wrist, and foot and ankle injuries. Coordinated Health currently averages more than 5,000 patient visits each week at its six sites in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. They are currently completing a new surgical specialty hospital facility for short-stay surgery in Bethlehem Township.
Michelle Ingerson, Chief Information Officer for Coordinated Health, detailed the importance of state-of-the-art IT and communication capabilities for Coordinated Health. "Most healthcare organizations are behind the curve in relation to IT capabilities. Coordinated Health will use IT for strategic advantage and positioning. From MRIs, digital X-rays, and remote diagnosis to records management, regulatory compliance, and on-line conferencing and consultation, quality healthcare and customer service today relies on premiere information technology and telecommunication services. At Coordinated Health, we intend to implement these advanced medical and customer care services across our facilities to be true leaders in the treatment of musculoskeletal problems."
Prior to the TelCove solution, Coordinated Health was interconnecting their facilities and delivering IT services using outdated fractional T-1 service. Beyond the lower performance and reliability of this solution, they were dissatisfied with their telecommunications provider. Trying to gain the attention of this large regional carrier was time-consuming. "TelCove, on the other hand, listened to our needs, provided a comprehensive and cost-effective solution, and are there 24/7 to address any issues or needs Coordinated Health might have," continued Michelle Ingerson.
"We are growing very fast, and we need a service provider who can handle our current and future needs for all of our facilities -- and TelCove was the only competitive provider who could grow and move with us and provide the fiber to connect all our facilities. The fact that TelCove could meet our current and future needs was a central element in TelCove's winning this sale. Quite simply, our IT department cannot juggle multiple vendors. We wanted a single point of contact for both our voice and data services, so that changes or issues could be quickly resolved. With multiple vendors, when a problem arises there's too much finger pointing and too little action," stated Michelle Ingerson.
A single vendor solution also fosters billing simplicity. TelCove can provide 'bill by location' billing records. Like a lot of companies, Coordinated Health's IT Department charges individual network and phone usage to the originating department. TelCove can provide specific voice and Wide Area Network (WAN) usage detail, and provides Coordinated Health with the tools to report, bill, and manage usage for these services.
John Flinko, TelCove's Regional Vice President for Pennsylvania, added, "While the single vendor solution was critical to this successful agreement, there were other technical advantages that TelCove offered Coordinated Health. With our Metro Ethernet product, Coordinated Health liked the ability to quickly 'throttle up' bandwidth with a simple phone call to TelCove -- no complex, expensive, and time-consuming TDM transport and premises upgrades. Additionally, moving from T-1s to Ethernet provides greatly enhanced network performance. Finally, for their voice services, Coordinated Health can now handle interoffice calls over their WAN, and can move to a comprehensive VoIP service when they wish."
