EAU CLAIRE, Wis., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Luther Midelfort, part of the Mayo Health System, has entered into a partnership with Nashville-based Aegis to launch a local program aimed at improving community health while lowering healthcare costs for local employers.
The three-year partnership between Luther Midelfort and Aegis calls for identifying "at-risk" employees and then matching them with appropriate early detection, prevention and education initiatives offered by the hospital system. These initiatives will be directly related to specific diseases for which the system is known, such as heart, cancer, diabetes and women's services. Employers participating in similar initiatives around the country -- also coordinated through Aegis -- report increases in employee health and associated company dollar savings in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers' compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures.
To help identify at-risk employees, Aegis will provide Luther Midelfort with its proprietary software and Internet applications as well as employer-based Health Information Centers, Personal Health Surveys, Personal Health Reports, and other features designed to address a business owner's individual workplace needs. The goal is that as employee health increases, employer healthcare costs will be reduced.
"We are extremely excited about joining with Aegis in this venture as we reach even further and deeper into the community to address our customers' healthcare needs," said Jason Craig, business development representative for Luther Midelfort. "Just as being a part of Mayo aligns us with the industry leader, so too availing ourselves of Aegis' road-tested programs gives us a depth of resources vital to our mission of service."
Working in partnership with Mayo Clinic, Luther Midelfort provides a full range of family care and more than 40 specialty and subspecialty healthcare services, in addition to being a regional center for cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. It also serves as a base of operation for Mayo One, Mayo Clinic's emergency helicopter. Luther Midelfort, part of the Mayo Health System since 1992, includes Barron, Bloomer and Osseo medical centers. In 2005 Luther Midelfort celebrated its 100th year in operation.
