Siemens Annual Customer Symposium Highlights the Ways Medical and Information Technologies Help Improve Healthcare Delivery; Innovations '06 to Be Held in Las Vegas, July 23-26

Posted on: Monday, 10 July 2006, 15:00 CDT

Siemens Medical Solutions will bring together healthcare professionals from across the country that are helping improve the delivery and the efficiency of healthcare through medical and information technologies (IT) at its annual Innovations customer symposium. Innovations will convene medical imaging and IT customers, enabling them to enhance their own fields of expertise while learning how information and medical technologies can drive dramatic change within the industry.

Themed "Innovations '06: Setting the Trend in Healthcare," the symposium will take place at The Venetian in Las Vegas, July 23-26, 2006.

A keynote speaker at the symposium will be Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and founder of the Center for Health Transformation. Mr. Gingrich will discuss his vision of a 21st century modernized healthcare system based on electronic health records (EHRs) and how such a system could save lives and dramatically lower the cost of healthcare in the United States.

"Our top priority at Siemens is to develop solutions that focus on the clinical and operational challenges that our customers face every day," said Heinrich Kolem, Ph.D., president, Siemens Medical Solutions, USA. "Through our Innovations symposium we can enable peer-to-peer discussions among our customers about solutions to these challenges that will help improve workflow, enhance healthcare delivery, and generate better outcomes for our customers and their patients."

Innovations is an annual symposium developed exclusively for customers of Siemens Medical Solutions. There will be more than 300 breakout sessions, 60 percent of which will be conducted by customers. Educational tracks will be offered in Clinical Workflow Management, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Imaging Solutions, Ambulatory Management, Revenue Cycle Management, and IT Management. Continuing education credit is available for select sessions through applicable accrediting organizations.

Another keynote speaker at Innovations '06 will be one of America's top professional photojournalists, Dewitt Jones. Jones is a two-time Academy Awards-nominated director and the author of nine books. Using his own photographs as illustration, he will show symposium attendees how to maximize their creative potential.
