Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that Misys eScript has been named a Registered Solution by the Highmark eHealth Collaborative. The organization supports electronic prescribing within western and central Pennsylvania to make measurable improvements in patient safety, quality of care, system-wide efficiency and cost effectiveness. Area physicians can use Misys eScript to realize e-Prescribing benefits such as ease-of-use, workflow support and complete practice automation resulting in better patient care.
"Practices using e-Prescribing recognize the value added for everyone involved," said Dr. Joel Diamond of Diamond, Fera and Associates. "Physicians are able to offer patients an easy way to fulfill their prescriptions, and provide added safety through formulary checks and balances. With Misys, it is possible for physicians to manage medications and send prescriptions directly as a seamless part of the workflow. Experiencing these benefits will make many practices electronic converts."
Misys eScript is an e-Prescribing solution provided in partnership with InstantDx, electronically routes prescriptions to participating pharmacies while checking for insurance eligibility and patient formularies in real-time. This process enables quick approval of refill requests from pharmacies and also provides an easy way to order new prescriptions. Misys eScript enables physicians to view patient medication history and other data to ensure there will not be an allergic reaction or interaction with other medications. Under the terms of the grant program, eligible physicians may be reimbursed 75 percent of the approved solution cost up to $7,000.
"Misys is committed to serving physicians in western and central Pennsylvania and all communities by offering an e-Prescribing solution developed specifically for their needs," said Rich Goldberg, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Misys Healthcare Systems. "The Highmark eHealth Collaborative approval validates Misys' vision for clinical automation of physician practices. Inclusion on the approved list demonstrates our ongoing commitment to automating the healthcare community."
Misys eScript is part of the Misys EMR(R) solution, which delivers the clinical documentation needed to proactively manage risk factors, health data and medications for hundreds of physicians throughout western and central Pennsylvania. These solutions are two of several products designed to achieve interoperability through the sharing of patient information across organizations, healthcare settings and technical solutions. Using Misys clinical solutions, physicians and staff work in a connected healthcare environment, leading to improved efficiency and patient care.
