The National Women's Health Resource Center Names Audrey Sheppard As New President and CEO

RED BANK, N.J., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Women's Health Resource Center (NWHRC) announced today the appointment of Audrey Sheppard as the new president and chief executive officer of the national not-for-profit organization.
Most recently, Ms. Sheppard served as a women's health consultant to national corporations and a variety of not-for-profit organizations. Prior to consulting, Ms. Sheppard served as the director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Office of Women's Health. In this capacity, Ms. Sheppard ensured that women's health interests were carefully considered in critical regulatory decisions. She also was instrumental in creating important public health education initiatives such "Women's Health: Take Time to Care," the award-winning awareness campaign on safe medication use.
"We are confident that Ms. Sheppard will uphold NWHRC's position as the foremost source of quality health information for women nationwide," stated Mary Jo Manning, chairman of the NWHRC board of directors. "Ms. Sheppard brings a wealth of women's health knowledge and will be a visionary for this outstanding organization."
Since its inception in 1988, the National Women's Health Resource Center has emerged as the leading independent health information source for women. NWHRC develops and distributes up-to-date and objective women's health information based on the latest advances in medical research and practice.
The NWHRC also announced today that Elizabeth Battaglino Cahill, RN, NWHRC director of marketing and consumer affairs, has been named executive vice president for the organization. Ms. Battaglino Cahill is a founding member of the NWHRC and led the organization during the national search for a new president and CEO.

Ms. Sheppard is the current president of the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum, the nation's pre-eminent women's history museum located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. She is also the co-convenor of Joanne L. Symons Memorial Speakers Series, honoring a close friend who died in 2003 of ovarian cancer.
