Subimo, Optima Offer New Online Healthcare Decision-Support Tools

Posted on: Friday, 21 July 2006, 12:00 CDT

Subimo, a provider of web-based healthcare decision-support tools, and Optima Health, a regional not-for-profit health plan in Virginia Beach, VA, are to provide Optima members with access to Subimo's 'Treatment Cost Advisor' and 'Spanish Hospital Advisor' tools via Optima's website. Members will be able to view cost estimates for a variety of health conditions and research and compare hospitals in their area.

Treatment Cost Advisor helps consumers estimate the cost of specific healthcare services or episodes of care. The tool provides in-network and out-of-network costs and prices for the most common medical procedures. It connects members to healthcare facilities based on individual preferences, quality indicators, outcome measures, and costs. In addition, price estimates for common tests and procedures and doctor visits are provided, allowing users to budget and plan for their treatment.

Subimo's Spanish Hospital Advisor allows Spanish-speaking members to compare facilities based on demographic clinical outcome measures and other quality indicators. Members may also review patient safety information and compare characteristics at the facility level.

"By implementing Subimo's support-tools, Optima further illustrates its ongoing focus and commitment to provide relevant information on healthcare quality and cost to its membership," said Ann Mond Johnson, president of Subimo. "Spanish-language decision support tools are a step towards ensuring all healthcare consumers are able to thrive in a changing healthcare environment."
