Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center Enhances Its Web Presence With Vignette
Posted on: Monday, 24 July 2006, 09:00 CDT
Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, the first and only comprehensive pediatric medical facility in Memphis, Tenn. and its surrounding region, is undergoing two major renovations, and Vignette (NASDAQ:VIGN) is at the root of each. The medical center is raising funds to expand its facility to nearly one million square feet and upgrading its Web site to provide a more user-friendly experience to its more than 130,000 patients and their parents.
"Our Web presence is critical to building awareness for the new hospital and providing time-sensitive information to our families as well as community leaders and financial donors," said Janice Chiozza, manager, Web Services at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. "Vignette makes it easy for any of our Associates to provide time-sensitive information about vaccinations and immunizations, emergency services, community outreach programs and general patient care. All of which are incredibly important for maintaining our position as a world-class children's hospital."
Prior to implementing Vignette's Next-Generation Web Presence solution, Le Bonheur utilized different portal and content management providers, making it difficult and inefficient to keep content up to date and deliver a custom Web experience for its families. Vignette helped Le Bonheur improve its Web management by separating the content provider role from maintenance, freeing the Web Services staff to focus on more important functions.
"Putting the responsibility for Web content in the hands of content experts is integral to delivering and maintaining a first-rate Web presence and increasing efficiencies throughout the organization," said David Crean, vice president and general manager of Healthcare Solutions at Vignette. "Vignette's Healthcare Solutions unit is committed to providing hospitals like Le Bonheur with enterprise content management solutions that help achieve their objectives from driving funding for a new hospital to providing the highest quality care for their patients through access to comprehensive electronic medical records."
Lebonheur.org is the first external Web site in the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare system to transition to Vignette. In the near future, methodisthealth.org, lebonheurmd.org, methodistmd.org and the employee intranet will move to Vignette. Additionally, the healthcare system is using Vignette's Collaboration software to manage its internal marketing organizations and comply with clinical standards.
