Posted on: Monday, 31 July 2006, 09:00 CDT
The Show's Second Season Kicks off August 1, with Host Sharon Alt and Industry Expert Greg Scandlen Exploring the Nation's Hottest Health Care Topics
TAHU and FWAHU are members of the National Association Of Health Underwriters (NAHU), a professional organization of agents and insurance company representatives who care enough about their clients to join together with a Mission Statement "...to inform and protect the consumer by enhancing the professional growth of its members." TAHU President, Mike Rivera stated, "We feel the Benefits Buzz will continue to provide our consumers with information that helps them to make informed decisions regarding the financing of their health care needs. We are proud of Sharon's efforts to accomplish this goal." The Benefits Buzz: Inside Health Insurance in America will air on the VoiceAmerica(TM) Health & Wellness channel. Season two premieres on Tuesday, August 1, at 1 p.m. CT (11 a.m. PT, 2 p.m. ET). Listeners should tune into www.health.voiceamerica.com.
The Benefits Buzz debuted in 2005 in response to VoiceAmerica listeners' desire for health care-related programming. With the alphabet soup of employee benefits in the marketplace today, the show quickly became a hit by simply helping listeners - who range from health care administrators to the average consumer - decipher myth from fact. As a call-in show, listeners are encouraged to participate, which often fuels the discussion and even debate.
Host Sharon Alt is not a medical practitioner, but a health insurance professional with over 15 years of experience. Her guests are leading insurance industry insiders, as well as high-ranking government officials.
The Benefits Buzz sponsor for this season is Lighthouse1 - "VoiceAmerica and The Benefits Buzz align perfectly with our goals of expanding the nation's health care conversation and providing insight around the important topics," said Jeff Fritz, CEO of Lighthouse1. "Lighthouse1 is pleased to help shape this season and deliver informative yet thought-provoking programming."
Health care industry expert Greg Scandlen kicks off the season with Alt on August 1. Scandlen is the founder of Consumers for Health Care Choices, a non-partisan, non-profit membership organization aimed at empowering consumers in the health care system. Scandlen is an accomplished writer, researcher, and public speaker and considered one of the nation's experts on health care financing, insurance regulation and employee benefits. Scandlen has also signed on for a monthly Washington update on the last Tuesday of the month. Other upcoming topics and guests include:
-- Pending Health Insurance Legislation with Janet Trautwein of the National Association of Health Underwriters
-- Pending Legislation Relating to Consumer Driven Health Care with Ashley Gillihan from Alston & Bird
-- Innovations in Consumer Driven Health Care Payments with Jeff Fritz, CEO of Lighthouse1 as the host on September 19
