North Georgia Medical Center Chooses LYNX Medical Systems Emergency Department Outpatient Charging Solution

Posted on: Thursday, 3 August 2006, 06:00 CDT

BELLEVUE, Wash., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- LYNX Medical Systems (LYNX), the leading provider of emergency medicine documentation and revenue management solutions, today announced that an agreement had been reached with North Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) in Georgia. Through the agreement, LYNX will implement its E/Point Online outpatient facility charging software application to better align NGMC's facility resource utilization with patient acuity in the Emergency Department (ED). Currently, LYNX serves more than 300 healthcare organizations nationwide representing more than 12 million annual encounters.

"E/Point Online will be a valuable tool in our commitment to excellence and innovation," said Debbie Self, chief financial officer at North Georgia Medical Center. "The LYNX software will provide immediate and measurable results in our Emergency Department by providing greater efficiencies in workflow and optimizing our E/M charging process."

E/Point Online is a standalone browser-based outpatient facility charging application that will allow NGMC's ED staff to record work performed during patient care for ED visits. The software automatically calculates the visit level for consistent, compliant and complete E/M charge assignment then extracts charges to the hospital billing or financial system. The hospital can also access financial and clinical data to better manage ED operations and patient care.

Utilizing the Microsoft .NET platform, E/Point Online allows data to move with greater efficiency. Software implementation is faster and easier, without costly hardware requirements. Application updates are automatically performed when the user logs on, thereby eliminating time-consuming manual updates.

North Georgia Medical Center is one of seven community hospitals operated in four states by SunLink Health Systems, Inc. (SunLink) and the third hospital within the health system to implement LYNX E/Point Online. North Georgia Medical Center, in Ellijay, Georgia, consists of a JCAHO accredited licensed-50 bed hospital and operates a licensed-100 bed nursing home facility.
