Family owned business one of largest contributors to the Foundation
Northeast Health Foundation announced the gift today of $100,000 from Danvers-headquartered Lyons Ambulance Service. This fifth generation, family-owned business is in its 102nd year of serving the North Shore community, including Danvers, Gloucester, Salem and Beverly - and has been a consistent and generous supporter of both Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals.
Construction is currently underway on the expanded Emergency Department at Beverly Hospital. A new waiting area with triage rooms will be added along with a separate pediatric waiting area, and there will be 33 treatment rooms with services divided among trauma, acute care, pediatric, and fast track (broken bones, small cuts and abrasions) patients.
"Lyons Ambulance's latest generous donation demonstrates their understanding of how community-based businesses play an essential role in the support of high-quality healthcare on the North Shore," said Michael Valentine, president of Northeast Health Foundation. "It is fitting that Lyons Ambulance began operation around the same time that ground was first broken on Beverly Hospital a century ago - as we both have a long track record of being committed to the communities we serve."
Lyons Ambulance is owned by Kevin M. Lyons of Danvers, and its mission is to provide patients with personalized, professional and compassionate mobile healthcare and transportation services.
"Being a family-owned business on the North Shore, we fully realize the importance, convenience, and impact of having top-notch, community hospitals like Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert minutes away," said Lyons. "I can't emphasize enough how many lives have been saved due to the proximity of outstanding healthcare right in our backyards."
The Care YOU Deserve initiative aims to marshal community awareness and philanthropy to support Beverly Hospital, its physicians, and the other not-for-profit affiliates of Northeast Health System (NHS). NHS is a coordinated network of hospitals, physicians, outpatient services, senior health and behavioral health programs - all meeting the health and human services needs of the people of Massachusetts' North Shore communities.
Beverly Hospital and other Northeast Health System affiliates such as Addison Gilbert Hospital and BayRidge Hospital have been recognized again this year as among only a handful of healthcare organizations in the nation to receive 100 Top Hospital designations by Solucient, the nation's leading source of information products for the healthcare industry. This marks the fourth time in six years Beverly Hospital has received the award. The philanthropic piece of the initiative will help to fund new technologies and facilities, such as an expanded Beverly Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital and a new outpatient care facility in Danvers.
