SBA to Open a New Center In Montgomery County and Close One Center In Broome County

ALBANY, N.Y., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- SBA will open for two days only a Disaster Loan Assistance Center in Montgomery County beginning Wednesday, August 16 through Thursday August 17, 8 am to 4 pm. This Center will assist victims who received damage from severe storms and flooding that occurred June 26 and continued through July 10, 2006. It will be located in St. Johnsville Community House, 16 Washington Street, St. Johnsville, NY.

The Center in the Deposit High School, 171 Second Street, Deposit, New York, Broome County will remain open until 6 pm. Thursday, August 17 at which time it will cease operation.

"We want to express our thanks to the staff of Deposit High School in Broome County for providing the space for the Disaster Loan Assistance Center," said Frank Skaggs, Director of SBA Field Operations Center East. "The many courtesies extended to our staff have been greatly appreciated."

Anyone with disaster related damages should register first with FEMA by calling 1-800-621-FEMA. If you received an SBA loan application, complete and return it to SBA. "SBA is here to help you with your recovery efforts. I encourage anyone that has not completed a disaster loan application to do so and meet with one of the Customer Service Representatives at the Centers for assistance," Skaggs added.

Anyone unable to visit one of the Disaster Loan Assistance Centers may obtain an application by calling the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (for the hearing-impaired 1-800-877-8339), Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. EDT. Business loan applications can also be downloaded from the SBA website at http://www.sba.gov/disaster. Completed applications should be returned to one of the Disaster Loan Assistance Centers or mailed to the: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Ft. Worth, TX. 76155.

The deadline for physical damage applications is September 1, 2006; the deadline for economic injury applications is April 3, 2007.
