Sterling Healthcare Announces New Senior Vice President and General Counsel; Company Further Strengthens Senior Management Team

Sterling Healthcare, a national leader in the provision of hospital-based physician management services, today announced Kimberly Licata has been appointed to the position of senior vice president and general counsel. Ms. Licata will oversee all matters related to company contracting, corporate paralegal, lender relationships, managed care, litigation, professional liability, leases, intellectual property, employment & human resources and mergers & acquisitions. Ms. Licata will work in the company's Durham headquarters and report to Eugene Dauchert, president and chief executive officer, Sterling Healthcare.
"Kim will provide guidance on a wide range of legal, compliance and operational issues," said Eugene Dauchert. "Her health law expertise and her broad range of experience are great assets to the company and we are very happy to have her on board."
Prior to joining Sterling Healthcare, Ms. Licata was a senior associate at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, where she worked on both regulatory issues and litigation matters for a variety of health care organizations, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians and other and suppliers. Her work included medical malpractice defense, regulatory compliance with EMTALA and other applicable federal and state laws and regulations, Medicare and Medicaid coverage and billing, HIPAA privacy, as well as medical staffing. Ms. Licata previously served for two years as an associate for Dickstein, Shapiro, Morin & Oshinsky, LLP in Washington, D.C., concentrating on public sector litigation and health law.
Ms. Licata is a member of the North Carolina and District of Columbia Bars and their associated bar associations, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
