Kryptiq Presents Secure Messaging Successes to AHIC Chronic Care Workgroup; Connectivity Solutions Shown to Improve Patient Care and Reduce Medical Costs
Posted on: Thursday, 17 August 2006, 12:00 CDT
Yesterday, representatives from Kryptiq Corporation, the leader in connectivity and workflow solutions for healthcare, presented testimony before the American Health Information Community (AHIC) Chronic Care Workgroup. This testimony featured a number of case studies outlining the success Kryptiq customers have experienced utilizing connectivity solutions to improve care quality and reduce medical costs.
The testimony included success stories regarding provider and patient usage of secure messaging and chronic care management technologies from Memorial Family Practice (part of Memorial Hermann Health Systems), Michigan State University, The Oregon Clinic, Providence Medical Group and Westchester Medical Group. For example, Kryptiq's ClinicalMessenger(TM) secure messaging application has allowed Memorial Family Practice to improve patient communication, while saving an estimated $4,900 per physician per year in costs associated with office visit follow-up.
"In an age when almost all of us rely on e-mail and Internet services for fast and effective information sharing and decision making, healthcare still relies on the phone and the fax machine as the basis for communication," said Malcolm Costello, vice president of marketing for Kryptiq. "At Kryptiq, we believe this lack of clinical data mobility is at the heart of the cost and quality issues facing the U.S. healthcare system and that secure clinical messaging represents the single biggest opportunity to quickly and cost-effectively modernize that system. Our customers have proven their ability to apply information technology to reduce administrative costs, deliver timely and appropriate care and increase patient satisfaction and positive clinical outcomes, particularly among patients with chronic diseases."
The Chronic Care Workgroup was created to facilitate chronic care monitoring and improved chronic care delivery by providing recommendations to AHIC regarding the widespread use of secure messaging between clinicians and patients. The Chronic Care Workgroup consists of leaders from governmental, public and private organizations who have been collecting information about secure messaging and chronic care management best practices through a series of public hearings. These testimonies will serve as the foundation of the Chronic Care Workgroup's development plan and recommendations.
"More than 125 million, or almost one in every two Americans, suffer from chronic diseases like asthma and diabetes, making the effective management of clinical information between providers and patients, paramount," said Luis Machuca, president and CEO of Kryptiq. "We are very excited about the opportunity to present our customers' successes to the Health and Human Services AHIC workgroup. They are performing a vital task in exploring how secure messaging can help improve the care of millions of Americans using today's technologies, and we look forward to collaborating with them more in the future."
