Tenet Healthcare Foundation, Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network Award Scholarships to Children of Employees

Tenet Healthcare Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC), and Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network announced today that they have awarded $10,000 in one-year college scholarships to five children of hospital employees in the counties served by the network. The Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship Program is designed to assist children of Tenet employees pursue a higher education. By Tenet facility, the 2006 scholarship recipients, their parents and school are: Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Weston Ilana Lukacher, daughter of Marjorie Lukacher, University of Florida Florida Medical Center, Ft. Lauderdale Naa Sika Williams, daughter of Patricia Williams, University of Florida North Shore Medical Center, Miami Matthew Felsen, son of Beth Felsen, New College of Florida Max Ferretti, son of Diane Berman, New College of Florida Parkway Regional Medical Center, North Miami Beach Danielle Magaril, daughter of Donna Magaril, University of Central Florida

"With the increasing costs of higher education, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation is happy to assist our employees and their children in achieving their educational goals," said Maria Martineau Plankinton, director of the Tenet Healthcare Foundation. "We see these scholarships as an investment in the future. Congratulations to all of the scholarship recipients for this exceptional achievement."

This year, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation awarded $288,000 through the Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship program to 139 deserving children of Tenet employees across the country. Of the 139 scholarships, 15 were given in South Florida -- five to children of hospital employees in the counties served by Tenet's Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network as well as 10 to children of employees in the Palm Beach Health Network.

These scholarships are awarded each year for full-time undergraduate study at any accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Winners are chosen based on academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations stated on the application, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal.

The program is administered for Tenet by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America in compliance with state and federal guidelines regulating scholarship awards by corporate foundations.

Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network, part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation's (NYSE: THC) Florida operations comprises seven acute care hospitals with approximately 2,516 beds and numerous related health care services.
