Tenet Healthcare Foundation, Palm Beach Health Network Award Scholarships to Children of Employees

Tenet Healthcare Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC), and Palm Beach Health Network announced today that they have awarded $23,000 in one-year college scholarships to 10 children of hospital employees in the network. The Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship Program is designed to assist children of Tenet employees pursue a higher education.

By Tenet facility, the 2006 scholarship recipients, their parents and school are:

Delray Medical Center, Delray Beach Samantha Wenzel, daughter of Lauren Wenzel, University of Central Florida Good Samaritan Medical Center, West Palm Beach David Medoff, son of Karen Medoff, University of Florida Lauren Medoff, daughter of Karen Medoff, University of Florida Lindsay Rogers, daughter of Tina Rogers, Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens Ashley Priest, daughter of Rhonda Priest, Ultrasound Medical & Dental Institute Roland Ringer, son of Joyce Stack, University of Florida West Boca Medical Center, Boca Raton Etai BenShlomo, son of Teva BenShlomo, University of Michigan Eric Medina, son of Georgina Rey-Medina, University of Florida Simone Sherman, daughter of Stephanie Sherman, University of Florida Asha John, daughter of Annamma John, University of Florida

This year, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation awarded $288,000 through the Children of Tenet Employees Scholarship program to 139 deserving children of Tenet employees across the country. Of the 139 scholarships, 15 were given in South Florida - 10 to children of employees in the Palm Beach Health Network as well as five to children of hospital employees in the counties served by Tenet's Miami-Dade/Broward Health Network.

These scholarships are awarded each year for full-time undergraduate study at any accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Winners are chosen based on academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations stated on the application, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal.

The program is administered for Tenet by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America in compliance with state and federal guidelines regulating scholarship awards by corporate foundations.

Palm Beach Health Network, part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation's (NYSE: THC) Florida operations, comprises five acute care hospitals and one rehabilitation hospital with approximately 1,670 beds and numerous related health care services.
