Scripps Health Selects TeleTracking for Patient Flow Solutions; Leading User of Hospital IT Chooses ``Gold Standard'' Patient Flow Innovator

Posted on: Thursday, 24 August 2006, 15:00 CDT

TeleTracking Technologies has signed a contract with nationally recognized healthcare provider Scripps Health to provide automated patient flow solutions at its La Jolla and Chula Vista, CA campuses.

Scripps Health, regarded as one of America's most advanced health systems in the use of information technology, has chosen TeleTracking's suite of fully integrated Capacity Management Solutions(TM) to help address mission-critical patient care issues such as relieving emergency room overcrowding, reducing OR hold and improving patient throughput.

As southern California's leading healthcare provider, Scripps Health manages more than 1.5 million patient visits each year through its five campuses in and around San Diego. Given the population growth rate in the region, the demand on hospital services has been expanded significantly over the past decade, and is felt especially in the hospital's emergency department.

By maximizing the use of existing in-patient bed capacity, TeleTracking's solutions help improve patient flow resulting in a decrease in emergency room overcrowding or diversions to other hospitals, shorter wait times for patients and improved attention to patient care.

Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, honored by U.S. News & World Report as one of America's best hospitals for both cardiac and diabetes care, is a major trauma center with a wide range of clinical and surgical services including 24-hour emergency services; intensive care; interventional cardiology and radiology; radiation oncology; cardiothoracic and orthopedic services; neurology; ophthalmology; and mental health and psychology services.

Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista, which serves San Diego's Metro and South Bay communities, recently added more than 40,000 square feet, including a new 24-hour emergency department, intensive care unit, laboratory and lobby. The Chula Vista facility also includes a Level II neonatal intensive care unit for low birth-weight babies, physical, occupational and speech rehabilitation, cancer care services, and a full range of surgical services including plastic, orthopedic, thoracic/vascular, urology and general surgery; and neurology.

Scripps joins TeleTracking's robust client portfolio of more than 650 hospitals in the US and Canada with over 1,200 solution installations.
