Distributed Delivery Networks (Ddn) Announces Sale of APM(TM) Machines to United States Department of Defense
Posted on: Friday, 25 August 2006, 15:01 CDT
Distributed Delivery Networks recently sold, delivered and installed Automated Product Machines (APM(TM)) to the United States Department of Defense. These machines represent the first government installations for ddn Corporation. Government pharmacy applications are similar to those found in retail pharmacies.
The APM is a kiosk that allows customers to pick up and pay for their finished refill prescriptions without waiting in line at the pharmacy counter. The APM automates the pick up of refill prescriptions during and after pharmacy hours, permits patient consultation with the pharmacy staff and provides security against tampering.
The United States Department of Defense's APM machines were configured to meet the unique needs of the Department of Defense. Specific considerations include a security system to detect and report tampering, compatibility with standard Department of Defense interface protocols and communication methodology between the APM and the pharmacist.
The APM provides benefits to the Department of Defense similar to those experienced by retail pharmacies. Use of the APM for prescription delivery increases efficiency of pharmacy staff, reduces errors at pick up and provides accurate, convenient and fast service to customers.
