Health Market Science and SureScripts(R) Automate Prescriber Matching for Electronic Prescribing; Partnership Integrates SureScripts Provider Identifier into the HMS Provider Master File

Posted on: Tuesday, 29 August 2006, 12:00 CDT

Health Market Science, Inc. (HMS), the leading manufacturer of healthcare provider data in the United States, today announced that it has integrated the SureScripts(R) provider identifier into its master provider database. Once a physician is activated on the SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network(TM), HMS will receive the prescriber's identifier for electronic prescribing and integrate it into its physician database. This allows for easier and faster updates to physician files at a pharmacy. SureScripts has more than 90 percent of the nation's pharmacies certified for e-prescribing.

Mark Brosso, president and CEO of HMS noted, "Integrating the SureScripts provider identifier automates the updating of the physician file in the pharmacy system. Today's announcement continues our long-standing commitment to helping customers seamlessly integrate valuable new technologies."

"With more and more physicians getting connected for e-prescribing every day, we want to make it as easy as possible for pharmacists to identify and verify these new electronic prescribers," said Bob Beckley, senior vice president of pharmacy relations and product strategy at SureScripts. "Integrating SureScripts provider information with the HMS Provider Master File(TM) does just that by giving pharmacies an automated means of updating newly connected physicians in their pharmacy database."
