Daxor Corporation (AMEX:DXR), a medical instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the receipt of a signed purchase agreement from Christiana Care Health System of Newark, Delaware.
Christiana Care Health System is one of the largest health care providers in the mid-Atlantic region, serving all of Delaware and portions of seven counties bordering Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey. The not-for-profit, privately owned Christiana Care family of services includes two hospitals - Christiana Hospital and Wilmington Hospital. The purchased BVA-100 resides within Christiana Hospital, a 780-bed modern facility providing a level of care only available in large-scale teaching hospitals. In addition to the Center of Heart & Vascular Health, which offers the latest advances in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, cardiac rehabilitation and preventive medicine, Christiana Hospital is the only American College of Surgeons verified Level-1 Trauma Center prepared to handle the most extreme medical emergencies on the East Coast corridor between Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Dr. Timothy Manzone, Associate Director of Nuclear Medicine, noted that, "Following our trial of the equipment, we determined that providing physicians with an accurate and relatively quick blood volume analysis was clinically useful and utilized in several areas - cardiology, surgery, hematology, and critical care." Dr. Manzone also stated that, "The BVA-100 has been an excellent addition to our existing diagnostic services, since it gives our physicians rapid, precise volume status assessment which they can use to help guide management in medical conditions where volume derangement is important."
Dr. Manzone was recently asked by the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology to contribute a Continuing Medical Education (CME) article concerning blood volume analysis in clinical practice.
Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with Volumex, Daxor's single use diagnostic kit. Hospitals which have purchased the BVA-100 after using it on a trial basis are The Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic and New York University Medical Center.
