Alberta Hospitals to Install Kodak Digital Imaging Systems

The Regional Shared Health Information Program in Alberta, Canada, has placed a multi-million-dollar order for dozens of Kodak 'DirectView' computed radiography and digital radiography systems, which will be installed at 34 hospitals and healthcare centers over the next eight months.
The order includes 43 Kodak DirectView CR systems, one DirectView DR 3000 system, laser imaging systems and film digitizers.
RSHIP also ordered Kodak capture link systems. These are designed to streamline workflow by allowing technologists to perform scanning and image review functions on any networked CR system.
Kodak's CR and DR systems will provide digital x-ray image capture for general radiology, emergency, intensive care, and other departments within each hospital. Laser imagers output digital image files onto radiographic film, while film digitizers equip facilities to integrate existing film-based radiographs into a digital imaging workflow.
The Regional Shared Health Information Program (RSHIP) is geared towards generating an enterprise medical record (a type of electronic health record) for residents living in RSHIP partner regions. It serves over 420 acute care and continuing care and public health facilities offices across seven of Alberta's nine health regions.
