Health Net of Arizona Appoints Thomas P. Smith Business Development Officer

Health Net of Arizona, Inc. today announced the appointment of Thomas P. Smith as business development officer.

"Business development officer is a newly created position in Health Net's executive management team in Arizona," said Mark El-Tawil, president and chief executive for Health Net of Arizona. "I know Tom and I am confident that he will make a tremendous contribution to our growth in coming years."

Smith has nearly 20 years of experience in managed care, including a number of executive positions. Most recently he was regional vice president of Network Management and Development for PacifiCare's Arizona and Nevada region. He also held executive posts at CIGNA, John Deere Health Care, Community Health Group, Aetna and Foundation Health Plan, a Health Net predecessor company.

Smith holds a law degree from Hofstra Law School in New York and a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University.
