IDC's Health Industry Insights company, provider of research and advisory services for the health industry, announces the appointment of Janice W. Young to research director of its Payer Information Technology (IT) Strategies program. Young, who most recently served as vice president and research director at research firm Gartner, is charged with identifying the key emerging trends and technologies impacting payer business success and IT portfolio management today. Her research will cover such hot topics as the future of healthcare business, consumer directed health plans (CDHP), outsourcing trends and directions, advanced analytics and pay for performance (P4P).
"There's a strong market demand, particularly among payer organizations, for information and solutions that can improve all facets of their business - from marketing positioning to quality of care," says Scott Lundstrom, vice president of research at Health Industry Insights. "Janice has both extensive experience in this area and an unwavering drive to help healthcare stakeholders achieve a higher level of efficiency."
Prior to her most recent stint at Gartner, Young also held senior positions at William M. Mercer's Healthcare Consulting Practice as well as Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) of Massachusetts. She launched her career at Tufts Health Plan in Waltham, MA, where she managed Tufts' IPA relationships and instituted management reporting and analytical tools to enhance the company's program management processes. Adds Young, "I'm thrilled to be joining the talented team of individuals at Health Industry Insights and IDC. With our quantitative industry-specific approach, the firm is uniquely positioned to deliver healthcare executives with very targeted research and advisory services that are tailored to improve business results and healthcare outcomes."
