BRONX, N.Y., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Montefiore Medical Center, one of the nation's largest healthcare systems, announced it has recently installed two z.one ultrasound systems in its prestigious Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory. Based on revolutionary Zone Sonography(TM) technology, the z.one system from ZONARE Medical Systems is the world's first Convertible Ultrasound(TM) platform.
"It is imperative that we offer our patients the latest in advanced technology as part of our commitment to superior patient care," said George Berdeio, director of Vascular Ultrasound Imaging Services at Montefiore Medical Center. "The z.one system provides us with excellent image quality and is especially helpful in clearly visualizing even minute vascular structures. Additionally, the ability of the system to instantly convert into a premium compact unit, when needed, allows us to easily bring ultrasound imaging to patients located anywhere in the hospital, which provides greater value to patient care."
The Non-Invasive Vascular Lab is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art and full service diagnostic testing for all vascular disorders. Montefiore's internationally renowned staff includes a team of vascular surgeons and technologists trained in the latest vascular procedures and imaging technologies. Treating one of the largest volumes of vascular patients in the country, Montefiore's professional staff is at the forefront of virtually every aspect of vascular disease treatment including extensive expertise in ultrasound imaging.
"Unlike other portable systems, ZONARE's breakthrough technology retains all of the raw data from the ultrasound signal," said Joshua Cruz, technical director of the Vascular Center and current president of the New York City Vascular Ultrasound Association. "Consequently, we are able to interrogate a complete diagnostic set of information after the exam and more closely scrutinize critical vascular structures or potential pathology. This, along with the ability to quickly take ultrasound imaging to a patient's bedside or to the OR, makes our z.one system advantageous and a valuable addition to our extensive array of diagnostic services."
Zone Sonography technology has allowed ZONARE Medical Systems to bring the first Convertible Ultrasound platform to the industry with superb image quality at a substantial price to value ratio. Clinicians are able to instantly convert the z.one platform from a full-featured, cart-based system into a premium compact, ultrasound system with all the performance of substantially larger and more expensive ultrasound units, yet, with greater portability and clinical flexibility than conventional compact systems.
Combining a fundamentally new advance in ultrasound, Zone Sonography technology, coupled with the z.one platform's radically new physical design, provides the maximum flexibility offering significant clinical and workflow solutions for a wide variety of customer challenges. The z.one platform's Zone Sonography software-based architecture ensures that its performance will increase as improvements in processing power become available. This allows for fast, convenient upgrades in clinical capabilities, keeping clinicians at the forefront of diagnostic capabilities as well as protecting their investment. Most upgrades can be downloaded via the internet, another industry first.
"Montefiore's Vascular Center is well known for its excellence in patient care and employment of state-of-the-art technology," said Donald Southard, president and CEO for ZONARE. "We are grateful to be a part of this outstanding team of healthcare professionals and look forward to our ongoing partnership in providing superior medical care."
