Highline Medical Center Selects Patient Communication Services From Per-Se Technologies

Highline Medical Center has selected Per-Se Technologies (Nasdaq: PSTI), the leader in Connective Healthcare solutions that help physicians, pharmacies and hospitals realize their financial goals, to generate, print and mail patient communication. Highline Medical Center will also make available a patient self-service portal, PerYourHealth.com(R), powered by Per-Se.

The Seattle-based hospital cited that quality assurance in Per-Se's print and mail processes were important to its decision to work with Per-Se. The hospital will benefit from an easy-to-use interface that Per-Se seamlessly integrates with the hospital's MEDITECH patient accounting software, which allows the seamless flow of information to the Per-Se system.

"We're impressed with Per-Se's ability to efficiently and quickly control the entire process from statement design and pre-sorting to return-mail tracking," said Mike Sheils, patient financial services director, Highline Medical Center. "Per-Se's customer portal will also allow us to view and track the status of our patient statement initiatives. Highline Medical Center's physician management group, Highline Medical Group, produces patient bills for more than 10 other Washington-area physician groups. Per-Se will also process patient communication volume on behalf of these groups.

Equipped with state-of-the-art patient communication technology, Per-Se tracks and monitors the location and progress of each incoming batch of information from the minute it enters its system, until it leaves in a U.S. Postal Service delivery truck. Per-Se is also able to track communication to and from the patient via a Web-enabled tracking model similar to major delivery services.

Per-Se's self-service patient portal, PerYourHealth.com, helps providers to simplify the patient inquiry process by enabling patients to access their account online to make changes such as updating demographic data. Updating this data assists in facilitating accurate claims submission to payers. The Web portal can accept credit card payments as well as provide patients email notification of the latest account statements. Providers have found this tool reduces calls to the billing office and expedites payments.

Per-Se currently processes more than 10 million documents each month through its Patient Communications Center. In addition to patient communication services, Per-Se's complete suite of Revenue Cycle Management solutions for hospitals includes real-time electronic claims management, outsourcing of the central billing office functions, denial management and cash posting.
