HealthSonix, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: HSXI) announced the successful completion of over 107,000 of its Sound Pressure Wave treatments which have proven successful in reducing the pain associated with arthritis and other diseases, improving physical function and reducing stiffness in patients with arthritis. Dr. David Venturi, Medical Director of HealthSonix, Inc., commented, "Sound pressure waves stimulate the mechanoreceptors located in the skin, which in turn, block pain signals to the brain. The end effect is a reduction in pain allowing patients undergoing the AquaSonix therapy to progressively increase their exercise regimen in the pool. Successful completion of over 100,000 treatments marks a significant milestone in implementing our business plan and expanding our treatment regimen to more and more arthritis patients throughout North America."
The Company began research and development of its patent-pending medical technology in 2001 and began with clinical research and trials in 2003. Since 2001, over five million dollars has been invested in research, clinical trials and regulatory compliance. AquaSonix Therapy is currently offered at 17 locations in North America. The FDA-registered AquaSonix medical device is at the core of this new therapy program. The treatment combines sound pressure waves with individualized low impact exercise programs in warm water therapy pools. The program is consistent with the published guidelines of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), which recommend non-drug therapies as the foundation of the treatment of patients with osteoarthritis.
HealthSonix, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: HSXI) is a publicly traded medical technology company.
