Aetna (NYSE:AET) today announced that it has named Peg Haennicke the new Head of Disability and Leave Management Services. She will succeed Eric Reisenwitz, who is leaving the company.
Haennicke joined Aetna in April from Broadspire, a provider of disability and casualty claim management services, which Aetna acquired in April.
"We are very fortunate to have an asset like Peg Haennicke, who is an experienced, recognized leader in the industry," said Patricia A. Farrell, head of Aetna Specialty Products and Medicaid. "Her background successfully leading the Broadspire disability and leave management business will provide a seamless transition for our business."
In her new role, Haennicke will continue to enhance Aetna's disability and leave management offerings by:
-- Advancing Aetna's leadership role in providing a portfolio of integrated and standalone disability and leave management products and services to the market.
-- Continuing development of productivity solutions that help employers to better manage and mitigate their absence-related costs.
-- Designing consumer-focused solutions to align with the market needs.
-- Providing superior claims and risk management services, as well as industry leading value-added information and services.
-- Exploring integration opportunities between Disability and Workers Compensation.
-- Establishing and strengthening connections to Aetna Behavioral Health, in addition to other units.
Most recently, Haennicke served as Aetna's Head of Disability Clinical Operations. Prior to that role she was president of Broadspire's disability business, where she managed Disability Claims, including short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Her responsibilities also included Field Case Management, Physician Review and Behavioral Health services, as well as sales and account management for those products. Her career with Broadspire began in 1982, when she joined as a claims adjuster. Haennicke is a member of the Integrated Benefits Institute's (IBI) board of directors and is a Licensed Multiline Adjuster. Trained as a nurse, she received her nursing education from St. Vincent's Hospital in Chicago.
