FDA Approves Glenmark’s Generic Nausea Tablets

Indian company Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has received FDA approval for ondansetron hydrochloride tablets that treat nausea and vomiting.

Ondansetron tablets are the generic version of GlaxoSmithKline’s Zofram tablets. Zofram belongs to a class of antiemetics that treat nausea caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, anesthesia, and surgery. According to Glenmark, Zofram had annual sales of $640 million last year. Zofram can be administered by injection or tablets.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has generic formulations and API interest in over 80 countries including the US and Europe. The company is engaged in discovery projects in the areas of inflammation and metabolic disorders.
