Healthwise(R) Consumer Health Information Meets New, Higher Standards of Quality; Healthwise(R) Knowledgebase Achieves 2006 URAC Accreditation

Posted on: Wednesday, 20 September 2006, 15:00 CDT

Since 2001, the Healthwise(R) Knowledgebase has maintained URAC Health Web Site Accreditation. This year, the Healthwise Knowledgebase earns certification for meeting URAC's new, higher standards of quality.

"Nearly 75 million times a year, people turn to Healthwise information to help them make better health decisions," said Healthwise Founder and CEO Donald W. Kemper. "URAC accreditation gives them one more reason to trust our information."

"We applaud Healthwise on achieving URAC strict quality standards," said Alan Spielman, URAC President and CEO. "In today's health care market, URAC accreditation provides a mark of distinction for organizations to demonstrate their commitment to quality health care."

Healthwise CEO Don Kemper was the founding chair of Hi-Ethics (Health Internet Ethics), a coalition that developed industry ethical standards related to patient privacy, health information content, and advertising. The Hi-Ethics Principles now serve as a basis for the standards used in URAC's Web site accreditation program.
