Posted on: Thursday, 21 September 2006, 12:01 CDT
A new collaborative health network co-developed by Accenture and SAP AG may enable health insurers to collaborate with health providers, authorities and pharmaceutical companies.
The network is designed to help healthcare organizations improve patient care by streamlining the way they access, integrate and share information.
The CHN will be based on SAP NetWeaver technology, which will link a range of information and data.
It is hoped that the network will help organizations maintain reliable, accurate electronic health records that can be accessed quickly by multiple parties.
An enterprise service-oriented architecture will be used to reduce IT costs and enable automated collaborative processes among industry participants, including healthcare providers, health insurance companies, public health authorities, pharmaceutical companies, physicians and pharmacies.
SAP and Accenture will work together to market, support and service the network which is expected to be available in mid-2007.
