Local Taco Bell Restaurants Raise More Than $50,000 for Area Boys & Girls Clubs

Posted on: Thursday, 21 September 2006, 18:01 CDT

One hundred twenty-eight Taco Bell(R) restaurants in the Northern California region participated in a one-day fundraiser on Tuesday, Sept. 19 to benefit teen programs at local Boys & Girls Clubs.

The "Taco Bell for Teens" Day awarded 10 percent of the day's sales proceeds, as well as a matching donation from the Taco Bell Foundation, to fund Late Night recreation programs at the 12 local Boys & Girls Clubs.

The money raised will go to "Late Night" weekend programs, such as dances, sports tournaments, poetry slams, and open-mike nights, specifically designed for 13 to 18-year-olds. The funds will also go to Boys & Girls Club programs that emphasize character and leadership development, community service opportunities and job skills programming.

"Our goal is to provide a safe, fun environment for teens and positive alternatives to drugs, gangs, and other undesirable activities," said Kim Williams, Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Sacramento. "With the help of long-time supporters like Taco Bell--and their customers, we can make a difference in teens lives."
