CVAC Systems and TempusClinic Partner to Study the Potential Value of The CVAC Process in Managing and Treating Diabetes, Insulin Resistance, and Metabolic Syndrome

CVAC Systems, Inc. (www.cvacsystems.com)
announced today an agreement with Los Gatos, Calif.-based TempusClinic
to study the potential value of the CVAC process in managing and
treating diabetes, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. The study
is expected to commence next month.
CVAC Systems has developed a new, noninvasive modality for the treatment
of metabolic derangement, which includes diabetes, insulin resistance,
and metabolic syndrome. Data published in respected peer-review-ed
journals have shown significant improvement in metabolic insulin
efficiency and glycemic control (in animals and man) with the use of
intermittent hypoxic (high altitude) training (IHT). Cyclic Variations
in Altitude Conditioning (CVAC) is a scientifically validated IHT
process which triggers the human body's
natural high-altitude adaptation response. CVAC, however, produces the
beneficial effects of high-altitude adaptation via IHT while
significantly reducing the required exposure time for IHT. Other
techniques providing IHT require exposure ranging from 21 to 84 hours
per week; CVAC exposures require less than 4.5 hours per week.
"There are more than 90 million individuals in
the U.S. and some 200 million worldwide who suffer from metabolic
derangement," said Allen J. Ruszkowski,
President and CEO of CVAC Systems. "The cost
of treating diabetes alone, which is just one of the forms of metabolic
derangement, is over $125 billion annually in the U.S. In addition,
there are an estimated 50 million Americans with metabolic syndrome,
another form of metabolic derangement, who have a fivefold increased
probability of developing diabetes and a twofold increased risk in
developing cardiovascular disease. Currently, physicians lack a
successful treatment regimen to help their patients other than
browbeating the patient to change diet, lose weight and exercise, which
has very poor compliance."
"TempusClinic uses a four-part integrated
program to help our clients achieve metabolic turnaround. We combine the
best of today's science, the most advanced
technologies, and the most natural means by which our clients may
achieve their health and fitness goals,"
added Mike Nichols, M.D., CEO and Founder of TempusClinic. "We
are, therefore, very interested in studying the CVAC process, which we
believe will go hand-in-hand with our programs. We are always looking
for scientifically validated non-invasive, non-toxic approaches to
health advancement," said Dr. Nichols.
