WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- AeA and UnitedHealthcare entered into an agreement under which AeA has endorsed UnitedHealthcare as its preferred national health care insurer, with UnitedHealthcare underwriting health benefits coverage for AeA member companies.
Established in 1943, AeA (formerly the American Electronics Association) is the nation's largest high-tech trade association with 2,500 member companies representing all segments of the high-tech industry. UnitedHealthcare is a UnitedHealth Group company.
AeA had offered a comprehensive, nationwide employee health insurance program for 27 years through another health plan. The new partnership with UnitedHealthcare enables AeA member companies and their affiliated brokers and consultants to tailor health benefits for employees and their dependants with UnitedHealthcare's flexible plan offerings, administrative efficiency and powerful technology tools.
"To ensure our member companies have access to affordable, quality health care, we selected UnitedHealthcare as our preferred health insurer after having evaluated a number of important considerations," said William T. Archey, president and CEO of AeA. "We believe our member companies will appreciate UnitedHealthcare's nationwide presence, competitive price and plan design, excellent physician and hospital networks and best-in-class technology."
AeA offers its member companies access to a host of comprehensive programs, including health insurance. UnitedHealthcare will provide a range of traditional and consumer-driven plans to meet the needs of AeA member companies regardless of size.
Companies can choose from a number of plans and programs that include features typically available only to large employers, including: access to HSAs and HRAs; 24-hour NurseLine access; wellness representatives assigned specifically to AeA member companies; easy-to-use cost and quality information for physicians and hospitals; and online self-service tools that enable employees to access their personal health records, plan transactions and account information at any time.
"UnitedHealthcare understands that in today's competitive global environment, AeA's high-tech member companies care deeply about the cost of health care insurance," said Kevin Ruth, CEO of UnitedHealthcare's Mid- Atlantic region. "At UnitedHealthcare, we believe that quality health care promotes affordable health care. As a business partner with AeA, we will leverage our resources to provide health care solutions and tools that engage employees more directly in their own health and health care decisions and provide them with information about health care quality and costs so they can make more informed health care choices."
