ICF International was awarded the Training Development and Related Services for the Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness (OPHEP), a five-year blanket purchase agreement (BPA) with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). ICF will be supporting the department as it continues to expand its capabilities in public health and medical response operations. This is expected to be an important contract vehicle through which HHS intends to improve significantly its ability to respond to potentially dangerous future challenges including bioterrorism, pandemic influenza, nuclear terrorism, and natural disasters. ICF has already received the first task order under this agreement valued at $US 2 million to provide Web-based training modules.
"The ICF team understands the scope of the issues facing OPHEP, and we have the strategic and tactical specialists to provide the training, exercises, and support that are critical to mitigating future disasters," says Anita Tallarico, senior vice president at ICF and expert in emergency preparedness. "We look forward to providing HHS with unparalleled emergency preparedness expertise and developing a systematic approach to further enhance the agency's successful growth."
The BPA covers a number of important areas including:
Training of the HHS Incident Response Coordination Team (IRCT);
Supporting HHS emergency response training and exercise programs to improve intra- and interagency operational capabilities; and
Providing end-to-end solutions to assist HHS in maintaining and improving professional training, exercise, corrective action, and operational response programs.
