VeriChip Corporation Adds Over 300 Physicians to the VeriMed Physician Network During 2006 Annual Meeting of American Academy of Family Physicians

Posted on: Wednesday, 4 October 2006, 09:01 CDT

VeriChip Corporation, a subsidiary of Applied Digital Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSX), announced today that over 300 physicians have registered in the VeriMed Physician Network during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), held in Washington, D.C. on September 28-30, 2006.

Kevin McLaughlin, CEO of VeriChip Corporation, stated, "VeriChip Corporation is extremely pleased by the number of physicians that visited the VeriMed exhibit at the AAFP annual meeting and learned about how the VeriMed system can help save the lives of patients by speaking for them in an emergency situation. We believe that many of the physicians who registered in the VeriMed Physician Network were influenced, in part, by the information we provided as to the growing number of emergency departments that now incorporate the VeriMed system as standard protocol."

The VeriMed system, which consists of a hand-held radio frequency identification (RFID) scanner, an implantable RFID microchip, and a secure patient database, is being used to help rapidly identify and provide access to important health information on participating patients who arrive at the emergency department unconscious, delirious, or unable to communicate.
