Des Moines University Clinic Selects InteGreat's IC-Chart EHR
Posted on: Monday, 9 October 2006, 09:01 CDT
Des Moines University Clinic, a multi-specialty medical clinic affiliated with Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa, has selected InteGreat's IC-Chart(R) as its electronic health records (EHR) system based on its ease of use, reporting functions and ability to interface with Groupcast(R), its new IDX(R)-based software billing system, which currently is in the installation stage. IC-Chart implementation is tentatively scheduled for spring 2007.
DMU medical students will benefit from hands-on experience with IC-Chart, along with other departments involved in clinical operations, including radiology, physical therapy, family practice, occupational/student health, ophthalmology, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and the Foot and Ankle Institute.
"The clinic is very excited about moving to an EHR because of its patient monitoring and reporting functions. One such use will be within our Occupational Health department to monitor injuries and provide aggregate data for employers," says Cheryl Dahms, RN, BSN, clinic director of DMU Clinic. This specially trained staff conducts routine physicals and drug tests, and performs ergonomic assessments for employees who have been injured on the job and are trying to return to the workforce.
"The reporting and alert functionality for monitoring and assisting patients with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, will be a great asset. With our emphasis on prevention and wellness, we can help patients take an active role in their health care," Dahms says.
A long-standing selection committee evaluated numerous top-name vendors and chose InteGreat's IC-Chart EHR solution because it was the most intuitive and easy to use of all demonstrated products. DMU clinic staff members possess a wide range of computer skill sets, so it was imperative to find a product that could be used to its full potential.
According to InteGreat's President David Koeller, "Being selected by a group that has invested so much time and research into the vendor selection process is a true testament to our product's technology and our company's ability to meet and exceed client expectations. We look forward to working with Des Moines University Clinic staff and medical students to help them achieve their business objectives and educational goals."
