GeoPharma said Thursday it completed building a new facility for manufacturing and distributing generic drugs.
The facility, which was built by GeoPharma's subsidiary Belcher, is part of a multi-phase expansion of its pharmaceutical manufacturing and research and development capacity.
This is the one of many steps in our strategic expansion plans related to the manufacturing and marketing of generic pharmaceuticals, said Mihir Taneja, GeoPharma's CEO.
With the vast majority of blockbuster drugs coming off patent along with the many niche drug opportunities, we believe this new facility will provide us with the necessary infrastructure to allow us to produce and develop many drugs on a more aggressive basis, Taneja added. Furthermore, it allows us to work on a variety of drugs simultaneously without worrying about initial capacity constraints.
