Statement From Cleveland Clinic Regarding His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, Head of The Coptic Orthodox Church in Egypt

CLEVELAND, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, recently underwent spinal surgery at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, United States of America. He is in excellent condition and recovering well in his hospital suite. The surgery was performed by Ian Kalfas, M.D., Professor and Chairman of Neurosurgery, at the hospital on Oct. 22. His medical care is being coordinated by a group of specialists at Cleveland Clinic, under the supervision of Martin Schreiber, M.D., Professor and Chairman of Nephrology. In his hospital room, His Holiness has started physical therapy and is expected to be released from the hospital soon, continuing physical therapy and returning to Egypt shortly.
