Daxor Announces Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center of Houston, TX Acquires Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100

Posted on: Monday, 30 October 2006, 09:01 CST

Daxor Corporation (AMEX:DXR), a medical instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the receipt of a signed trial agreement from Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center of Houston, Texas. Daxor's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 will be located within Memorial Hermann's Nuclear Medicine Department.

Founded in 1925, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center was the first hospital to open in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. For nearly a century, the hospital has set new standards of care in Texas and the nation through advances in the practice of medicine. As the primary teaching hospital for the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Memorial Hermann provides exceptional care in heart, neuroscience, orthopedics, women's health, general surgery and organ transplantation. As one of only two certified Level 1 trauma centers in the greater Houston area, the hospital provides 24-hour emergency and trauma care to more than 40,000 patients a year. The planned Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute-Texas Medical Center, a 165,000-square-foot facility will offer the latest innovations in cardiology programs and treatment.

The new Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza, a 30-story medical office building, will support the Institute and other services with additional physician office space, an Ambulatory Care Center and two floors dedicated to retail shops, services and restaurants.

Daxor's BVA-100 is a FDA approved device which accurately measures a patient's total blood, plasma and red cell volumes and compares the measured result against the patient's ideal volumes. A measured blood volume analysis (BVA), as reported in recent published medical reports, is clinically superior in the diagnosis of a patient's volume status than existing surrogate markers, lab test and physical assessments within medical conditions such as heart failure and orthostatic hypotension; and has been shown to benefit patients being treated within critical care and pre- and post-surgical settings. A BVA is a simple procedure which may assist in the diagnosis and treatment of blood volume derangements in outpatients and inpatients.

Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with Volumex, a single use diagnostic kit.
