DALLAS, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- In an ongoing effort to assist its enrollees in the State of Texas Access Reform (STAR) and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), this month UniCare Health Plans of Texas (UniCare) opened its Community Resource Center in downtown Dallas. UniCare is one of three managed care plans awarded a contract earlier this year from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to provide health care benefits for STAR and CHIP enrollees in the Dallas service area.
Staffed by local personnel, UniCare's Community Resource Center (CRC) will offer a community presence for the residents of Dallas and will offer outreach services and health education. Through the local CRC, enrollees and their families will have access to outreach services, health education referrals, translation, and other specialized services. In addition, CRC staff is fluent in both English and Spanish.
"Our ability to provide our Medicaid managed care members with access to personalized, quality health care lies in our unique community-based model," said John Monahan, senior vice president of UniCare Health Plans of Texas. "Our model ensures we understand and meet the needs of the local residents by designing health programs that will help improve the health of the members we serve."
The 3,400-square-foot facility is located in the Landmark Center in the West End District, and is near the West End DART station.
WellPoint, Inc., the parent company of UniCare, has more than a decade of expertise serving more than two million Medicaid managed care members in 14 states and Puerto Rico.
