The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival(TM) Presented By Harris Sets the Stage for the Nation's Holiday Season

CHICAGO, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- As one of Chicago's great traditions, The 15th Annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival(TM) presented by Harris kicks off the holiday season for the nation on Saturday, November 18, 2006. A collection of daytime activities on Pioneer Court, located at 401 N. Michigan Avenue, will kick-off the event including American Girl Stage Shows, LEGO(R) activities, a performance by Justin Roberts and more. At 6 p.m. Mickey Mouse will illuminate over one million lights on 200 trees along The Magnificent Mile, one of the great avenues of the world. The festival is held along North Michigan Avenue between Oak Street and the Chicago River.

Many new performances and other exciting additions will be joining The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival(TM) this year. Some of these first-time ever appearances include:

Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Avenue: - LEGO(R) mural building with help from the LEGO(R) Store Team - 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Harris Choir - 11 a.m. - The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee live interactive performance at 11:30 a.m. - American Girl Theater performance - Bitty Bear's Matinee: The Family Tree at 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. - Holiday Ambassadors perform holiday songs at 2 p.m. & 3 p.m. - Justin Roberts & The Not Ready for Naptime Players performance at 4 p.m. Procession, North Michigan Avenue, from Oak Street to the Chicago River: - Largest number of procession vehicles in the history of the Lights Festival - Enhanced procession vehicles including special effects - Exciting pyrotechnics - Awe-inspiring Santa Float with first time ever snow machines - First ever illuminated balloons - American Girl performing - Fireworks set to music

Mickey Mouse, in his 13th year as master of ceremonies, will be joined by an exciting array of Disney characters from Walt Disney World in Florida along with cast members from American Girl Theater. The American Girl Holiday Ambassadors will perform a selection of holiday songs live in Pioneer Court. Additionally, children ages 3 and up can enjoy a vignette from the American Girl Theater performance, Bitty Bear's Matinee: The Family Tree(TM), a family theater production that celebrates the virtues of family and friendship. The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival(TM) presented by Harris kicks off Thursday, November 16 with the unveiling of holiday window displays and continues throughout the weekend with more than 100 different activities including pre-procession street entertainment, live ice carving demonstrations, carolers, and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. A magnificent fireworks show over the Chicago River is the culmination of Saturday's celebration.
