Missouri Votes on Stem Cell Research
November 7, 2006
The legality of stem cell research is on the ballot Tuesday in Missouri.
Amendment 2 would protect all forms of stem cell research that are federally legal, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. The measure is intended to block the state legislature’s attempts to ban embryonic stem cell research.
If approved, Missouri would become the second state after California to include the right to perform stem cell research in its state constitution, The New York Times said. The Missouri measure, however, does not include a commitment to financing.
