The Pennsylvania College of Internal Medicine (PCIM) has formally changed its name to the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Physicians (PA Chapter, ACP). This change was made to firmly establish the organization as the state chapter of the American College of Physicians and eliminate confusion among members and other organizations. The PCIM name was used in Pennsylvania following the national merger of the ACP with the ASIM.
"With over 6,000 members across the Commonwealth, the PA Chapter of the American College of Physicians is the largest medical specialty organization in Pennsylvania. Our mission is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of health care by fostering excellence and professionalism in the practice of medicine," said John Derrickson, Executive Director for the PA Chapter of ACP, "In addition, we provide advocacy efforts at the federal and state levels of government to improve the health-care climate for patients and doctors in Pennsylvania."
